BibleDude.net: how to sell your soul on eBay

Whether you fancy literary examples (Faust) or musical folklore (Tommy Johnson... no, not Robert), a pact with the devil stems from fiction but you are correct in explaining it has roots in reality.

Christians can slowly - but surely - give away their relationship with Christ and stray spiritually because the battle is not for the mind, but the soul. The devil requires our emotions and will to surrender our faith.

No, that emotional white flag doesn't fly up because of succubus or incubus. It flies up higher and higher, the farther and farther we walk away from the things of God.

Well done crafting this explanation because although I haven't seen the ad on eBay (I looked), if she said she was a Christian yet wanted to parson off her soul, I can clearly understand the angst. Questions like "what the eff" would come up. If she didn't say she was saved, I would typed my best MAPSCO down the Romans Road, that's for certain.

Again, nicely done, Dude. I'll be back, and who knows, maybe we can link. I like the way you think.

    Peace,

    Great points HiScrivener...
I can also understand how some people would react, but am also bothered by how people react without taking the opportunity to understand the entire situation. Too many Christians tend to respond with the knee-jerk reaction. I don't recall Jesus jumping to any conclusions without fully understanding the situation that He was addressing.

Regarding the selling of one's soul, you are right, it is not a new concept. I also think that while giving of your rights to your mind and will like that may not necessarily mean that your spirit is condemned to hell, I think that typically some that would do that would probably have little regard for the condition of their eternal spirit as well. You are right, the enemy does not want us to think for ourselves...

I have also just checked out your blog, and will have to spend a little more time over there as well! It look interesting. I am happy to exchange links if you wish!
